Fernando writes: At the Health and Biomedical Informatics Centre, University of Melbourne, we have been conducting innovative research aimed at bringing increased rigor to the way in which evidence of improved health outcomes can be achieved using social media in various chronic conditions. Especially given the rise of health-related Internet use by patients.
